How The West Was Bought: Part 2
Caren West is still at it.
In this week’s edition of the Atlanta weekly The Sunday Paper, entertainment columnist Caren West once again deceives her readers by disguising her paid publicity work as journalism.
Ms. West devoted the middle-third of her column this week to the Atlantis Music Conference & Festival, never disclosing to readers that she is paid by Atlantis to promote the event in the press.
As long as The Sunday Paper persists in allowing Ms. West to disregard the essential journalistic principals of independence and honesty, everything else in the paper is suspect.
It’s shocking to me that The Sunday Paper seemingly has no issue with this. I know it would be wrong but I’d like to punch her in the ovaries.

a greater concern to me (well at least greater than a nightlife columnist writing subjective stories about happenings in her life–like the music conference she patently discloses she was “working” at) is the rampant plagairism of Atlanta writers…

sometimes it’s so obvious the writer didn’t have one original thought to share, although he/she passes it off as his own.
