SXSE (aka the Atlantis Music Conference)

So I just came in from eleven50; it was the kickoff for the Atlantis Music Conference, the largest gathering of national and international music industry insiders, press, and popular up-and-coming artists of the southeast. Quoth their website:

With 95% of its performing artists unsigned and from all parts of the world, Atlantis is not just a southeastern conference; it is an International Conference, held in the southeastern United States. The 8th Annual Conference, August 10 – August 13, 2005, will take place in the Little Five Points/Virginia Highlands/Midtown/Downtown areas of Atlanta and will feature over 300 Showcasing Artists from around the country.

Other parts of the conference, which takes place at the Sheraton downtown on Courtland and International, include a job fair, panel discussions and of course, the parties.

Oh my yes, the parties.

Local conscious hip-hop indie label Arc the Finger Records will be performing also, showcasing some of their top artists such as Psyche Origami, Minamina Goodsong and Collective Efforts. The beats are tight, the lyrics sound, and chances are if you’ve watched [adult swim], you’re already halfway familiar with them.
