Yet Another Google Maps Hack

As I discussed in person with some of you at the birthday party last week, I’m a big fan of Google Maps. My current obsession is building a new application, using their API, that does something completely inane and useless, but looks very pretty doing it. Something like a mapping tool that places pictures of UFOs (with shadows) hovering over your house, or a mapping tool that gives driving directions written by the Swedish Chef. Something so terrible and stupid that folks would have to link to it. The inescapable meme.

What does this have to do with Atlanta? Nothing more than the fact that I like Google Maps. Oh, and I found an interesting new hack today: Georgia Sex Offenders Maps. Uses Google Maps to show you the convicted sex offenders, with pictures and police records, in your area.

I’m not sure what I’ll do with this new information, other than look sideways at my neighbors the rest of the week, but I thought I’d pass it on. In the grand tradition of all the garbage I regularly post, I hope you enjoy this treacle as well.
