Of Birthdays and Anniversaries

My daughter turned two not so long ago, I have my sixth wedding anniversary coming up later this month and now the Atlanta Metroblog turns one. Why must we all keep getting older?

In all seriousness, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the great contributors, linkers and commenters to this site. Not so long ago I was having an identity crisis about how to best participate, but I see that being myself is all that’s ever been asked or required.

Not to get all mushy, but I want to be a bit of the counterpoint to Andy’s post, without getting all “ignorant slut”.

I’m proud of us today for the following reasons:

1) We were one of the first ten Metroblog sites, I think. Nothing to sneeze at there, now that there are over 30.
2) I’m proud of myself for outlasting a friend and a co-worker as an author here.
3) I’m glad we discuss more than traffic, weather and sports (though I’m particularly guilty of the last one).
4) I’m proud that we’ve met the challenge of posting more often as a group and inviting a great number of recent talented additions.
5) We have fun with the format and don’t take this blog too seriously.
6) There is no rule six.
7) We all have something interesting to say.

Ok. So after the group hug this evening and a beer or three, I’ll tell you what I really think.
