Poker, Free and Independent

Sunday nights, when I can, I play cards at the Independent in Midtown, which many of you may know better as “that place upstairs from the Highlander.” The game on Sundays is free, but seats fill up most weeks, so you want to sign up early to make the 6pm start time. The bar gives out oddball prizes for the top three finishers, with a $50 gift certificate for first place. Not bad for a free tourney, I say.

Pool? Scrabble? The “crack machine” (that electronic pay-as-you-go touch-screen thing)? Yahtzee? Come by sometime. I’m not there as often as I’d like, but I’m always looking for an excuse to go.

Also, the company I work for owns the joint, so this is me shilling, but genuinely.
