Meetup: Missed
Gah! I missed the Meet-up at the Highlander last night due to nagging deadlines at work. (I’m working 18-hour days until/through Monday, ’cause my time-management fu is weak.)
Would you believe I’ve never been to the Highlander, even though I could walk to it? The company I work for owns The Independent, directly upstairs, so I’m often up there playing cards or the crack machine. If you play pool, it’s a really stellar place for that.
Anyway, I wanted to get a chance to put some faces to names (and some Jaeger to lips), so I’m sorry I missed you all. Please do share tales and don’t make me wait too long for the next one.
Here’s a little snapshot:

In those dark and cynical moments when I wonder, “What the hell’s a Metblog really for, anyway,” a post like this comes along and answers it crystal clearly: “Perhaps to post a more timely and fresh reminder of such meetups, even in their own post, rather than let such pearls of information languish in a post-hoc UPDATE to a stale entry that has fallen off the front page even though ’tis but a couple days old.”
But what would I know, I’m only on LiveJournal.
I wanted to go…and start putting faces to these posts, but I don’t exist yet. How long after you get the email from Booner and send in a BIO, do you recieve identity? :-)
Shelbinator,
Do I dare to assume that you want to be asked via Evite?
I did not even know that was an option. I would highly appreciate it.
Sure. Jessica mentioned it on here, but I’d be happy to include anyone on the evite reminder. Just send me an email with your email address: mingaling@gmail.com
The thing is, Shelbinator and Briam, it isn’t actually a Metblog event. It’s more associated with the APWBWGTTD. That just includes a lot of Metbloggers – Lori does the eVite, so…
But, but…but Dan, I thought everyone who was anyone in the Atlanta blogosphere at least READ this blog if not wrote for it? And when fully one third of the Atlanta Metbloggers signed the napkin…
Does APWBWGTTD have its own website? No? Good. Variety is a pain in the butt, and while it may promote competition and innovation and foster a marketplace of ideas, that’s not what America is about. America wants one-stop shopping. We want a veritable Wal*Mart of the blogosphere. Bloglanta schmoglanta, the Atlanta Metblog should be the hub of all things blog in this town, especially when beer is involved. Convenience! Homogeneity! Lower prices!
P.S. Blog. Blog bloggity blogblogblog. I love that word.
Bloggity Bloggity indeed…I do hope to make the next meet.
Umm, Shel, actually APWBWGTTD does have it’s own website – here. But we may have to let some of the organizers of that site tell us more about it.
I would like it if the Atl. Metblog was the hub of all things blog in Atlanta, but I’m not about to start pimping other people’s events. Even when beer is involved. If people want to have a blog get-together or something, then they can post about it or they should feel more than welcome to ask us to post about it. We’d be more than happy to.
Ooohhhh, thanks, Da. My Google skills need work I guess. No, wait, they don’t.
And I wasn’t asking *you* to pimp out APWBWGTTD, if you’re not part of that whole shebang, I was suggesting that if fretting about *missing* APWBWGTTD is food for post here, and there’s no secret special handshake or password to get in…
Um, okay Mr. America. Maybe you’re a new reader or perhaps just hasn’t noticed, but we do welcome anybody that wants to come. We do post about it here monthly, but it isn’t strictly a Metblogger thing.
*goes to register APWBWGTTD.com*
seriously…
I’d go to one of these things if the planets would just line up in my favor. By planets I mean not having to work late, the meet-up place being on MARTA and having enough dough to get hammered responsibly.
