I Scream, You Scream
Summer heat is upon us and there is nothing better than a cool ice cream to satisfy the soul. One our city’s finest treats is Jake’s ice cream.
Unfortunately, Jake’s has made it a little harder to find ice cream this summer. Recently when I passed the original Highland Avenue location and noticed that it looked like it had closed for business, I was quite concerned. Are you wondering what is happening to our local chain too? Here’s what Jake’s website has to say…
A lot of big changes are taking place with Jake’s and I wanted to let you all know about them and to answer the many questions we have been getting about them. On Sunday, May 29, Jake’s closed it’s Highland Avenue location. I know this may come as a shock to many of you, but we have a big surprise coming. We are in the middle of negotiations on a new space that we know you will love. Please stay tuned to our website and we will let you know where our new Highland location will be.
Another big change which you may have already noticed is that we relocated our Emory Store to 2144 North Decatur Road (in the old Girard’s Ice Cream Shop space).
And still another…we are relocating the Decatur store on Church Street. With an estimated opening date of mid-summer, we will soon be located underneath Eddie’s Attic on the Square. The current Decatur store will become our special events facility, perfect for your next party, meeting or small conference.
Once I make it to one of these new locations you’ll find me in line to get a scoop of “Chocolate Slap Yo Mama”.
In the interim, might I suggest you try giving Hank’s in Grant Park a whirl?
I meant to mention Hank’s too. I’ve eaten Hank’s ice cream on a handful of occassions and have enjoyed it each time.
Jake’s is also a health center, apparently.
Would I deny that? Nope! I consider ice cream to be part of my mental health plan.
