Podcasting Atlanta

After I was interviewed for a local podcast (shameless plug), I started looking around at other Atlanta podcasts. A ‘podcast,’ for the few of you who may not know, is like a radio show that is put together by an amateur – usually – and published to the web in mp3 form so that listeners may listen whenever. Now, not having an iPod (and not much of a desire for one) I’ve only listened to a couple and I find the medium… uh… interesting.

Anyway, I’m trying to compile a list of Atlanta podcasts (podcasts that are based in Atlanta and that are somewhat about Atlanta) and here that the ones I have so far (found by googling, at Podcast.net, or Podfeed.net). Please let me know if there are others to add!

I hope I’m okay speaking for my fellow metbloggers when I say that our favorites, so far, are wtfBBQ and My ‘lanta (metblogger Andisheh is a co-host and they feature Lisa Baron on two shows!). I’ve probably missed a whole bunch of them though and gotten something here wrong, so feel free to have at me… I deserve it.

There’s also Skepticality (skepticality.libsyn.com), sort of a Mythbusters type show, and Escape Pod (escape.extraneous.org) which is essentially audiobooks of scifi short stories. So, neither ABOUT Atlanta, but based IN Atlanta.

And speaking of shameless plugs, Dan, the latest episode of the wtfBBQ podcast features a much healthier dose of music compared to last week’s excessive blathering, focusing on this weekend’s Corndog-o-Rama at the Earl. I also took an audio tour of Findley Fair and look at the history of Findley Plaza in L5P. wtfbarbecue.com. :-)

You might wanna check out http://www.radiorockstars.com/. I think they post ram files rather than mp3s, but they are local and they have tons of interviews and also music programs (mix tapes). Very addictive (and I’m not involved with the site in any way, I just really like it!)

Do terrible, personal, sporadic podcasts count? If so, mine is here: http://podcast.mostlymuppet.com/

I have been doing a podcast about Southern Sports since early March, with fresh podcasts uploaded Monday and Friday. Check out my website at http://www.kitbaty.com/ssw, give the podcast a listen, and let me know what you think!

    thanks,

There’s a new one called the Bottom Line. It tries to focus more on South Atlanta stuff, but has drifted to a more personal type stuff, but I like listening to it. its at flyingheel.com
