Sweet mother of biscuits and gravy. Even remotely suggesting that the media who wasted their time and ours covering the story be beneficiaries of this class action suit is about the most retarded thing I have ever heard. The media probably made money on ramming that story down our throat because it made for good drama and fed the masses of morons out there exactly what they wanted. It's also the same masses of morons who want to hear Wilbanks' story in a made-for-TV movie, so the book/movie deal is 100% bonafide American Way of Life™ -- and God bless you if you're idealistic enough about the mental caliber of the average consumer of popular culture to believe otherwise. As long as there are enough TV zombies to keep American Idol, Fear Factor, Wife Swap, Shag My Sister, and any People's Court type spinoffs on the air and profitable, there will always be a market for Jennifer Wilbanksesesssss.

Wilbanks ain't the problem, it's us. Next time you're standing next to someone who starts gushing about their favorite reality TV program, slap them across the face as hard as you can. It's the only way things will get better.

If Jeff Dauler wants to be taken more seriously he might want to make a links page -- links to sites like the Charley Project, the Doe Network.

Agreed. Why doesn't he raise awareness about missing children than whining over Wilbanks?

Nothing sets my heart thumping (to the beat of Hollaback Girl) like the righteous indignation of a wacky morning guy. Perhaps Daurer should give this story a rest and go back to stealing material from Maddox.
