weekend social life
Well, the weekend is back upon us and there are some interesting things going on. [Ed. Duh! It’s Atlanta, there are always interesting things going on.]
Friday brings us “School” at Electra.
Re-live your ‘school daze’ as your resident DJ’s Jeremy Healy AND Quasi take you on a retrospective trip through the 70’s, 80’s, and beyond!
This happens the first Friday of every month, so don’t feel too bad if you miss it this time. There’s a dress code, though – School Attire. This, for girls, is essentially the picture if you click the link. For guys, it seems like they are referring to the typical boring Buckhead style of blue shirts and khakis as the dress code – oh! but add a stripey tie. Let me give a better suggestion. Guys, be “original” and not “frat-boy-ish” like you usually are when you go out to Buckhead and dress up like Elvis Costello or something. There’s also Late Night at Eclipse di Luna, which is fun because EdL is just so good. Blah blah, Martinis & IMAX, etc.
Saturday is Mardi Gras, so there are a lot of parties. There’s the 99X Sinner’s Ball which has one of my favorite bands – Better than Ezra. And you know that you’ve been wanting to see what they’ve done with Underground! C’mon, give in to the hype! If not, then why not hop over to Front Page News. Which is one of the best places in Atlanta. I’m serious. And it’s N’Awlins food so it’s going to be great for Mardi Gras. You must go there. Period.
Sunday is the Super Bowl. You should know that. It’s hard to say what ought to be done to you if you don’t watch it but I’m sure that you will be ostracized at the water cooler on Monday if you don’t. If you even have a water cooler. We don’t in my building and I feel like I’m missing out on a whole huge aspect of this crazy thing called “working.” Am I? Is it worth all the hype that it gets?
The monthly event ‘School’ at Electa is meant to be a fun tribute to the famous School Disco club in Manchester (www.schooldisco.com).
Dress code is not mandatory…
