on the informal poll results

First of all, I’m sorry to see Billy go. Not just because he wrote cool stuff and we need all hands on deck here, but also because the parents of Cobb County need to get their fair say before we swingin’ singles of Va-Hi cast them all as garrumphing anti-evolution fuddyduddies straight out of Footloose. But y’all will visit his personal site, right? Good.

Now to the poll I conducted yesterday. About which I can say:

  • Man, was I glad to get eight comments. Thanks muchly.
  • For those of y’all who opted for more political commentary: where were you when I was writing stuff like this? Or Steve B was discussing crime rates? I’ll make y’all a deal: I’ll post more about politics in the ATL, as we watch Sister Shirley stroll back into office, if you’ll comment more on said posts.
  • No one voted for more sports. Daniel will be sad. I’m sad. The Thrashers fans are sad. Poor Thrashers fans.

We’re probably not going to produce exactly the blog you want — this is still a labor of love, or at least volunteerism, until Sean figures out a way to get us money. (I’m not holding my breath.) But it’s nice to know we’ve got a little community going here.

If the Thrashers were playing, sure. But they’re all in Russia or something. And I should say some original baseball reporting would be fine, but the sports “beat” is pretty well covered. Original sports coverage, good. Rehash, bad. Also, my tastes run to hockey and baseball, and I dont care about football or basketball. Obviously, others’ mileage may vary. In short, sports would be fine to post about as long as it wasn’t, you know, what you can get at ESPN or whatever.

Thanks for the kind words (and the blog plug), Jessica! But please don’t cast all Cobb snobs in the same mold. I’m an agnostic liberal (as is my wife), who will probably move before my kids attend schools with “evolution is just a theory” warnings in the science textbooks.

How’s that for going against the county grain? Heck, I don’t even own a gun! :)

Keep up the great work, I’ll still be a loyal reader.
