The Best Burger

I have this huge craving right now for a burger. I mean, humongous. I know, it’s only 10:30, so I’m probably going to be able to hold it until lunchtime, but it is building strong.

I’m in midtown (working in the lab – on Labor Day… grrr…), so I have a ton of options open to me. There’s The Vortex, where I can get a burger, a beer, AND tater tots! But then there is also the Varsity (mmm… so good…), but the problem with that is that my fellow grad students are almost all from up north (you know, yankees) and that seems to translate into them not being able to understand the wonder that is the Varsity. “It’s just so greasy!” they’ll say. “Well, yeah. And it’s so good.”

So my question is this – if all of Atlanta is open to you, where would you go to get the best burger?

Vortex, bar none. Which reminds me… I haven’t been back there in a while.

Vortex is good, but if you go to OK Cafe, you can get a milkshake.

The Vortex, hands down… that’s all there is to it. The Varsity is highly overrated.

The best burger … hmmm … there is this place in an Ingles shopping plaza in Shmerna (Smyrna) on Spring Road… it’s called … US Cafe or something like that… they have this thing called the SuperBurger … DUDE! It’s like a pound of sirloin tasting beef they slap it on a toasted kaiser roll with fresh toppings ….it’s orgasmic …and who doesn’t want that in a burger?

    Grrrrrrrrr … road trip anyone?

Fuddruckers. Get the largest option and put it down with all dressing you can eat.

A friend of mine who used to live in the ATL swears by the Righteous Room. Haven’t tried it out yet.

Ann’s Snack Bar on Memorial Dr. Ask for the Ghettoburger. It won best hamburger *nationally* in 2002 on citysearch. And it’s on a lot of other “best of” lists too. And trust me, the burgers there leave the Vortex in the dust.
