Hash House

No, not THAT kind of Hash. This kind of Hashing is the kind where someone takes a bag of flour, runs really fast leaving a trail, and you have to follow it. Then, when you’re done, you drink beer!

I’ve been a runner for almost two years now and it can get boring if you just run your normal routes and can’t find a way to liven it up. Now, for the record I haven’t livened it up and I’m getting kind of burned out. But now that I know about this crazy kind of running and drinking, I might have revitalized my running spirit.

They seem like a fun group, any hashers out there reading?

David – I’ve never been, but I have a bunch of friends who go hasing with Atlanta Hash. They love doing it.

I go Hashing 3/4 times a month. It is a lot of fun, and there are at least 7 different ones, some once a week, some every two, some once a month, around Atlanta. If you like hard core trail running (and swamps, briars, streams, etc) try Southern Comfort or Black Sheep. Moderate mixed trail, Pinelake or the granddaddy of Hashes in Atlanta, the AH4 (Atlanta Hash House Harriers and Harrierettes). SOB or Moonlight are mostly street. Atlantahash.com has all the info on the “running clubs with a drinking problem”. Check out the forums and the photo albums to educate yourself on the goings-on! Thin skinned or easily shocked folks, brace yourself, as the group is definitely into bawdy songs, jokes and names! It is a blast and I would recommend that anyone try it out. Hope to see you soon on trail!

    On-on. Gentrifukation

If you like mountain biking and urban assault rides, the Wheelhopper Hash House Harriers somehow were left off Gentry’s list ;-)
Same following flour, same embarrassing names, same disgusting songs at the end, better beer than most.

Like Black Sheep, we have the occasional waist-deep creek crossing too, except you are carrying a bike when you do it.

You can find them through the Atlantahash site as well. We ride twice a month even though that site says it’s only once.

    On-on!
